Comparing the Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to be a popular choice for its off-road-loving loyalists who need just a few more luxury features than something like the Jeep Wrangler. And for those who need more space but don’t want to sacrifice everything else Jeep has to offer, Jeep has released a new model for the 2021 year, dubbed the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
We have a vast selection of both of these great new Jeep SUVs on our lot at Kearny Mesa Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM. If you’re wondering who wins in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee standoff, let’s compare the two and see which model best fits your needs.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
This stalwart Jeep SUV has long been a favorite, with its rugged capability wrapped in a modern SUV package. The 2021 model has more than 10 unique trim levels, that every driver can find the exact features they need at a great price point.
Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The new “L” full-size model of this SUV features three rows of seats instead of two, making it capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes in six trim levels and has a redesigned, more modern exterior, which its smaller sibling will adopt for 2022.
For the smaller SUV, a V6 engine is standard, but buyers have the option to upgrade to a V8 that makes 360 horsepower and tows 7,200 pounds (a nice jump from the 6,200-pound capacity of the V6). The three-row iteration features the same engine options and tow capacities.
Regardless which Jeep SUV you choose, you can’t go wrong with one of these new models. Visit our California Jeep dealership today to start some test-drives and see for yourself.
