At Kearny Mesa Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, we always emphasize the importance of routine maintenance to our customers. Performing upkeep on your Jeep SUV is the best way to avoid costly unnecessary repairs and prolong its lifespan.

But there are other ways to help keep your car in great shape. One of those is to make sure you’re taking great care of your Jeep parts. Here are some tips for how to reduce wear and tear on your car’s parts.

Pay Attention to Your Driving

Many drivers don’t realize how hard they are on their cars. From taking stops too quickly to accelerating too fast, to making sharp turns, it’s common for drivers to unintentionally add extra stress to their vehicle and its parts.

You can do your car’s brake pads, engine, tires, and suspension a favor and be a bit gentler on the road. Decelerate early by taking your foot off the gas, instead of braking harder and longer. Don’t rush to accelerate and go easy on the quick turns.

Check Your Tires—Often

As the only point of contact between your Jeep SUV and the road, your tires are extremely important to the safety and effectiveness of your vehicle. Tires are expensive to replace but cheap to maintain.

A simple check of your car’s tire pressure will help you ensure the tires aren’t overinflated or underinflated—both of which can cause uneven wear to your tires’ tread and shorten their lifespan. Having them rotated as needed will also help to ensure they last.
