Should You Buy a New or a Pre-Owned Grand Wagoneer?

November 15th, 2022 by

It can be a tough choice to decide between buying new or buying a pre-owned vehicle like the 2021 Grand Wagoneer. Fortunately, there are some clear differences that should make it a little easier. Let’s go through why each option might be right for you.

Grand Wagoneer Updates for 2023

The biggest change in 2023 has been moving the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine, with its 510 horsepower, from an option to standard in all but the base trim. This engine debuted in 2022, so isn’t even on offer in older pre-owned Grand Wagoneer models.

Other changes include an additional trim: the Series III Obsidian. This is the premium-tier trim of the 2023 Grand Wagoneer. It adds the Obsidian Black accents to both the exterior and interior, as well as 22-inch polished wheels.

Price and Quality

Obviously, if you want a pre-owned Jeep Grand Wagoneer, it’ll cost you less. But that’s not the only consideration worth noting. It’s important to note the distinction between pre-owned and certified pre-owned. Pre-owned refers to any previously owned Jeep® vehicle. These are, of course, carefully scrutinized and tested. But they carry only what’s left of their original warrantees.

Certified pre-owned Jeep vehicles are a whole different classification of pre-owned models. They are deeply scrutinized and thoroughly checked for use and wear. If a pre-owned Jeep vehicle is approved as certified, it comes with a manufacturer-backed extended warranty, and additional features like roadside assistance and free maintenance are often included, too.
